It is a tourist trip, so no prior experience or training is required.

COMPULSORY:

1.Your medicines (including seasickness pills). There is a first aid kit on the yacht but it is a minimum one. Take what you might need on the boat. Besides, you must notify the captain if there are any health - specific issues.

2. Sunglasses would be better with polarised lenses to protect eyes from flecks. Everything will fleck: white boat parts, polished metalware, waves, etc. It is advisable to secure the glasses with a string, otherwise they can be blown away. Do not bother about "unsinkable rims". You will not swim in them, and if they fall overboard underway, that's all, we will not find them. You are advised to take sports glasses so that they are tight on your face, design glasses will fly away by the wind. Alternatively, if your glasses are not tight, there are special strings that are tightened in the back of your head.

3. Sunscreen - 20 and higher. Knees, ears and noses are getting sun burnt in a wink. You might take sunburn treatment ointment.

4. Something to cover your head (cap, bandana, hat). A baseball cap with a special cloth to protect neck and ears from sun is a great thing. Obviously, it is easily blown away by the wind. One more advice - it is highly undesirable to have a white bottom of your peak - it will blind you by the light reflected from the waves and deck.

5. Deck shoes - as a matter of courtesy you should have deck shoes and shoes for the shore. When on board, change your shoes. Deck shoes must cover toes (there are lots of cables, units and other equipment on the yacht so it is quite easy to break your little toe or twist your ankle in the open toe shoes), have light dirt-resistant non-slipping bottom and dry quickly. As a matter of fact, running shoes might be an option, but if we are caught by the rain, it will be rather uncomfortable in them. Sand on the deck, in the cockpit and cabins is difficult to sweep, and there is no vacuum cleaner on board.

6. Gloves are compulsory. It is better to take fingerless gloves so it is more convenient to bend. Work with ropes on the yacht without gloves is hardly a pleasure, sunburns and horny hands are guaranteed. Do not forget that ropes can be wet with salt water, moorings in marines can be covered with shells and other sea living creatures. Sailing gloves cost from €20 to €50, you can take usual old leather gloves and throw them away after the cruise. You can also visit Decathlon, quite good sailing gloves cost 400-500 rubles there.

7. Clothes for sailing. You do not need too much clothes for a week of sailing, 2-3 T-shirts are enough (better light ones, with no print on them, everything perspires under prints which is uncomfortable), synthetic shorts (dry quickly, better below the knees, but not compulsory), trousers for deck works (long, preferably synthetic; jeans and other cotton clothes are a bad idea - wet quickly, dry long, kill the mood in a moment); 1-2 T-shirts with long sleeves (in case of sun burns), wind-resistant and waterproof anorak (it is very cold on the deck if +25 and sailing with the wind), flisca (can be worn under a wind jacket, you will be warm and dry and those who are cold can sleep in it). Yacht jacket is a good option as well as yacht trousers (equivalent to ski outfits - synthetic with membrane, perspiration is transferred outwards without letting water come in the other way, dry and warm). Rashguards are very convenient, they are indispensable in case of wind+sun+spindrift. General recommendation is modern quality synthetic garments that dry quickly, are comfortable and warm.

8. Clothes for the shore. There are etiquette rules: men in trousers and shirts or polo shirts, women in dinner clothes. However, that is not our case. We are more democratic though we do not advise to come in bathing costumes and flip-flops to the restaurant.

9. A wash kit is better to put into the case or parcel so that it is convenient to take it ashore for the morning and evening shower.

10. Soft case. You can bring your suitcase but we advise you should take a soft case to the yacht leaving your suitcase in the charter company office (luggage room for free). Remember, there is not much space on the yacht. We recommend to put your belongings into the waterproof packets as there is always a chance of rain.

OPTIONAL:
1. We advise you should take ear muffs. The boat creaks, waves play, people talk in the cockpit and on the nearby yachts, some snore, some even forget to switch off alarm clocks on their IPads and wake people around them.

2. You can take laptops and other mobile phones. There is free Wi-Fi in some marinas, a 220V socket on the boat that you can use during berthing (if there is power supply connection from the shore). Needless to say, there are sockets in the restaurants. During sailing and berthing the boat system voltage is 12V, if you have a car charger, you can take it with you. At the team's discretion you can buy an extension pole, it is better to do it when you see a socket type on your yacht (not all extension poles are suitable).

3. Cameras and other video cameras - see paragraph about laptops. We request not to leave them unattended in the cockpits and on the decks.

4. Towels – there is everything on the yacht including bed linen and towels, but if you wish to use yours - no problem.

5. Tight cases for documents and other gadgets.

6. Thermal underwear for sleep. It might be cold on the boat at night. But it is unlikely.

7. Alcohol. Prior to sailing the team will decide what and how much alcohol to buy on board, but if you wish to take something special please feel free to do it. It is the right thing at night in the cockpit in a good company. Drinking is at the captains' discretion during sailing but it is better not to.

If you get motion sickness in transportation, it's not a given that you'll get it on a yacht. There's no need to be afraid, but if you're certain you'll get it, you can stock up on home remedies or medicines from the pharmacy.

Take it as a given that everyone is susceptible to motion sickness to some extent, even the most experienced. It's just that experienced individuals require a much stronger jolt for it to happen - when the boat tosses from side to side, from bow to stern, and up and down for a couple of days. Additionally, experienced individuals recognize the symptoms earlier and know how to protect themselves. However, let's say right away that we won't be heading out to sea in such weather for several reasons during our journey. We're not athletes or thrill-seekers.

There are several medicines for motion sickness, such as Dramamine or Cinnarizine. They should be taken before heading out to sea because it will be too late once the motion sickness starts.

Home remedies are often sufficient: if early symptoms of motion sickness appear (headache, chills, heartburn, nausea), take a piece of lemon, a sour candy, or ginger in your mouth (we'll have all of these on board, we'll buy them). You can also sit closer to the boat's center of gravity and fix your gaze on the horizon, which also helps. Generally, any work quickly distracts the body, so captains, if they notice your greenish face and listless appearance, will immediately assign you to steer the boat, or tie knots, or coil ropes, or plot the course, or do something else.

There are also so-called "sea bands" - fabric or metal bracelets that stimulate active points on the wrists. They say they help.

If you are completely overwhelmed and the only way out is to "treat" yourself, do it on the leeward side of the yacht. Under no circumstances go down below decks, where you will undoubtedly feel much worse. In the most severe case, the captain will order you to put on a life jacket and attach a safety line to the rail to ensure you don't fall overboard in the process. "Treat" yourself and let go. There's nothing shameful or funny about it; it happens to everyone. In the most severe case, you'll be fine in a couple of days, and it usually takes a couple of hours to recover. Besides, we won't be making such long crossings, so novices won't feel too bad.

In general, there's no need to be afraid. You'll manage, and if you need help, we'll be there for you.

Yachting is a very polite form of leisure. By the way, venture is the most polite form of investment in the world. It is customary to greet passing boats with a wave of the hand at sea, and at the dock, yachtsmen usually help neighboring boats to moor and at least secure them along the sides if someone's boat is squeezing into the parking space between adjacent boats.

After 8 pm, it is not customary to make noise (neighbors are resting), talk loudly, or play music on boats at the dock. As usual, some "yachtsmen" do not particularly observe this, but nevertheless, in the night sea, all sounds are heard from far away, and it is important to respect neighboring crews.

It is not customary to board someone else's boat without an invitation. The exception is in emergency cases when urgent help is needed. In all other cases, you should approach the boat and loudly call out its name. If someone is on the boat, they will definitely respond and, if necessary, invite you on board.

When boarding, pay attention to how the owners move around the boat - in changeable or street shoes, and make sure to ask if you need to remove your shoes on the transom (the stern edge of the yacht). Owners cherish their boats very much, and traces of dirt on white decks and teak boards disappoint them incredibly. Changing shoes, among other things, also has a purely utilitarian value. Imagine - you entered the cabin without taking off your boots, left dust, and possibly dirt. In the morning, the boat went to sea and got into a roll. The question is which pot in the galley or whose bunk this dirt will end up in a couple of hours?

Now about your (our) boat. The navigation table is a sacred place for the captain. There should be nothing there except what the captain puts there: a navigation ruler, navigational instruments, maps, a logbook, and possibly a triple charger for phones and other laptops. That's it.

It is highly recommended not to scatter your things around. In case of rolling, they fly off in the most bizarre way, and you will be looking for them for a long time, guaranteed. Everything is stored in closets and shelves in the cabins.

On the boat, you need to behave as politely and tactfully as possible with your team and always help each other. If you have something to "say", exhale, wait a minute, and think if it is worth it. As some experienced sailors say: "Well, you know... Think if they will bother to rescue you if something happens."

If you cannot do something, do not know how, or do not understand - ask, you will definitely be helped. When you go up from the cabin to the cockpit - ask if the others need anything brought up, when you go down - take things from the top with you. Help each other.

The whole business is based on trust. Venture business especially. We believe that the path to building trust is through communities and informal relationships. Many in the venture scene are passionate about sailing in its various forms, including yachting. What brings us all together is our enthusiasm for what we do - venture business and everything that surrounds it. Over the years of working in the venture market, we have managed to gather around us a huge number of interesting, passionate, enthusiastic, smart, and motivated people with whom we can easily "go on reconnaissance" (in our case, to the regatta). Unfortunately, an average of eight people can fit on one yacht, but there are definitely more people interested. That's why we decided to organize a regatta that can accommodate at least some of those interested and willing to join us.

The yachting part is organized by our friend and partner Oleg Dorofeyev, who ran a business in Russia for a long time and recently moved to Canada. Yachting is his lifestyle and favorite activity, and he knows well the places where we invite you, we are confident in the captains and the waters.

The main goal of Venture Regatta is to bring together good people and show them a new world - the world of yachting. Join us, and together we will have a great time in a beautiful company for a week.

Payment is non-refundable, as the money is transferred to the charter company, and the price is calculated based on full yacht occupancy. However, there is an option to replace a participant, and the organizers also assist in finding a replacement for the crew. If a replacement is found, a full refund is also provided. If the charter is able to allocate certificates for the boat, we also provide a certificate for a free participation in the next trip. If a participant cancels the trip two months before the start of the regatta, the money will be fully refunded. After this time, the options presented above apply.
